Rail and Bus Safety Data Reports represent data analyses prepared by FTA to illustrate rail and bus transit safety outcomes and present trends and patterns in safety event data.

The reports analyze data collected through the National Transit Database (NTD). The Rail Safety Data Report also uses data from the State Safety Oversight Program. Both focus on patterns and trends in event, fatality and injury data.

FTA will provide an overview of the new Bus and Rail Safety Data Reports that provide a snapshot of transit industry safety performance from 2007–2018 for rail and 2008–2018 for bus, and focus on patterns and trends in events, fatalities and injuries.
