The Federal Transit Administration has spearheaded several initiatives in an effort to enhance customer satisfaction in the transit community. A number of years ago, the FTA Third Party Procurement Council was established to provide greater technical assistance to the transit community in partnership with grantees and industry. Since then, the agency has:

  • Streamlined the requirements imposed upon its grantees through a revised circular
  • Documented and published procedures, methods, and examples of procurement practices in the Best Practices Procurement Manual
  • Started regionally based technical assistance procurement conferences
  • Initiated an FAQ section to provide a means for its customers to get answers to their procurement questions online
