- Rich Passage Passenger Only Ferry Study: Phase 1 - High-speed water transportation between Bremerton and Seattle in Washington State. The purpose of this Federal Transit Administration/Washington State Department of Transportation cooperative agreement was to analyze the most feasible approach to high-speed water transportation between the cities of Bremerton and Seattle in Washington State. This research project tested various technologies including vessel hull design and composition, propulsion systems, prototype vessel and operating speeds, against various types of shorelines. The results were the identification of a hull design and composition, and an operating speed that will allow environmentally acceptable fast-ferry service through the Rich Passage. The report is large and may take some time to open.
