In its second funding iteration, FTA seeks applications that showcase and support products and approaches that improve the state of the practice of workforce development.
Specific focus is given to those:
- projects or programs that demonstrate innovative methods of leveraging investments in public transportation infrastructure to generate possible impacts in local employment, particularly in underserved communities;
- innovative projects or programs that support the training/professional development needs of blue-collar workers, particularly in the area of new and emerging technologies; and
- projects that support or showcase innovative methods of encouraging youth to pursue careers in public transportation.
Public transit agencies, state departments of transportation (DOTs) providing public transportation services; and Indian tribes, non-profit institutions and institutions of higher education.
The applicants must submit a proposal electronically to http://www.grants.gov by 11:59pm EST on July 6, 2012 for consideration. All potential applicants are advised to begin the Grants.gov registration process immediately, if they have not previously submitted Federal assistance applications through Grants.gov, in order to be able to meet the deadline.
