Jefferson Alignment MetroLink Expansion Project
The Bi-State Development Agency (BSD) proposes to implement a 5.6-mile light-rail line connecting the Northside, Midtown, and Southside neighborhoods, with further connections to Downtown St. Louis and the Cortex Innovation Community. The light-rail line would travel within a dedicated transitway on Natural Bridge Avenue from Grand Boulevard to Parnell Street, and on Parnell Street/Jefferson Avenue to Chippewa Street.
Update (April 2026): After advancing project design and assessing potential local funding sources, BSD determined that the Light Rail Transit project was not financially feasible as planned. BSD has decided to re-engage the St. Louis community to determine an altered project alignment, with a new mode, that fits within BSD's budget. The revised project scope will be reflected in an updated Locally Preferred Alternative, anticipated in Summer 2026.
