Acting Associate Administrator for Program Management

John Bodnar is the Director of the Office of Transit Programs and the Acting Associate Administrator for the Office of Program Management at FTA.

As the Director of the Office of Transit Programs, John oversees the implementation and administration of many of FTA’s formula and competitive grant programs for both urban and rural areas including the Buses and Bus Facilities Program, Urbanized and Rural Formula Programs, Tribal Transit Program, All Stations Accessibility Program, and three competitive Ferry programs, as well as four technical assistance centers and the Coordinated Council on Access and Mobility.  

As Acting Associate Administrator, John is also responsible for the execution of FTA’s major capital project oversight, management of FTA’s electronic grant award system (TrAMS), and development and issuance of grant-making resources.

Prior to joining FTA in 2013, John served as a Project Officer for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, providing oversight for its paratransit service. John has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.
