Webinar: Broadening Understanding of the Interplay Between Public Transit, Shared Mobility, and Personal Automobiles
As ride-hailing companies such as Uber and Lyft gain in popularity, are they affecting the use of public transit and personal automobiles?
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) will host a webinar from 2-3 p.m. ET Tuesday, May 15 featuring research from Broadening Understanding of the Interplay Between Public Transit, Shared Mobility, and Personal Automobiles (TCRP Research Report 195). The webinar will share research findings that draw on a variety of sources, including one of the first uses of transportation network company (TNC) trip origin-destination data.
The webinar will outline findings and insights from this research about how, when, and where TNCs are most frequently used and the relationship between TNC use, transit ridership and driving commutes. The presenters will provide a range of recommendations that may assist public transit agencies and other public entities attempting to engage with TNC services in large, mid-sized, and smaller urban areas.
