There are three levels of environmental review and documentation under NEPA called classes of action. Based on the significance of the impacts, classes of action determine how compliance with NEPA is carried out and documented and include:

Office of Program Oversight Director Hope Jensen, Compliance Division Chief Gian Marshall and Performance and Quality Assurance Division Chief David Schilling provided an overview on FTA oversight reviews and the Oversight Tracking System (OTrak).

Ethan Novak, Program Analyst in the Office of System Safety, provided an overview of FTA's approach to reducing safety risk in the transit industry and an update on ongoing efforts to improve transit safety.

Jeremy Furrer, Safety Policy and Promotion Division Chief in the Office of System Safety, provided an overview of FTA's safety policy initiatives, including actions to incorporate statutory changes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Iyon Rosario, Drug and Alcohol Program Manager for the Office of Safety Review, provided an overview of FTA's Drug and Alcohol program and the program's oversight/audit findings. 

FTA’s Joe DeLorenzo, Associate Administrator for Transit Safety and Oversight and Chief Safety Officer, gave an overview of crashworthiness standards and the upcoming 2023 FTA Joint State Safety Oversight and Rail Transit Agency Hybrid Workshop.
