Federal Government and Philanthropy: Addressing Substance Use Disorder in Rural Communities (December 5, 2018)
To support more collaborative responses to the ongoing opioid epidemic and the widespread collateral damage to families and communities in rural America, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and Grantmakers In Aging (GIA) joined forces to host a special forum for foundations and government agencies on December 5, 2018 in Washington, DC. The meeting’s goal was to give funders and federal agency staff the opportunity to understand each other’s priorities and funding opportunities, identify resource gaps, and improve collaborative approaches to help small and rural communities in crisis. Federal Interagency Input Meeting for the National Center for Mobility Management (November 28, 2018)
The National Center for Mobility Management is a national technical assistance center funded through a 5-year cooperative agreement with FTA. The previous NCMM cooperative agreement ended on December 31, 2018. The new center was competitively selected to carry out activities to improve and enhance the coordination of federal resources for human service transportation, especially transportation for people with disabilities, older adults, and people with low incomes. Primary activities will include supporting partners in adopting proven, sustainable, replicable, customer-centered mobility strategies that promote good health, economic vitality, self-sufficiency, and community unity. To enhance the NCMM statement of work, increase availability and utilization of technical assistance (TA) resources, and improve coordination across recipients of federal resources through targeted TA – FTA invited all CCAM agencies to participate in determining what activities would be funded with the $1.9 million in 2019 year one NCMM funding. Eight of the eleven CCAM agencies were represented at the meeting and gave input on: community planning grants, hosting a meeting of federal TA centers, resources (webinars, regional forums, trainings, toolkits, blog posts, newsletters, etc.), and regional liaisons.
2018 HHS-HUD-USDA Central Office Meeting: Health, Housing and Community Living for People with Disabilities and Older Adults Living in Rural America (October 11, 2018)
