Third Party Procurement

The Federal Transit Administration has spearheaded several initiatives in an effort to enhance customer satisfaction in the transit community. A number of years ago the FTA Third Party Procurement Council was established to provide greater technical assistance to the transit community in partnership with grantees and industry. The first initiative of the council was to streamline the requirements imposed upon its grantees through a revised circular. The  next effort was to document and publish procedures, methods, and examples of procurement practices in the "Best Practices Procurement Manual." This past year FTA started regionally-based technical assistance procurement conferences as another important step in its continuing effort to support its grantees. And now FTA is initiating the HelpLine to provide a means for its customers to get answers to their procurement questions online. Through these and other collaborative efforts FTA will continue to strengthen its  partnership with its customers.
