Director of Communications
A. Bailey Wood, Jr. is the Director of Communications for FTA. Mr. Wood has extensive experience in policy communications and in the transportation space. Early in his career, he served on Capitol Hill in multiple legislative and press roles, including stints on two House committees and a leadership office. His Hill career culminated as Communications Director for the Homeland Security Committee. Afterward, he was responsible for the policy communications for the National Automobile Dealers Association. During the most transformative period in automotive history, Mr. Wood handled high-profile issues such as the bankruptcies of GM and Chrysler, Cash-for-Clunkers, and several high-profile automaker recalls. More recently, he led the communications efforts for the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association. Prior to joining the FTA, he served as a communication consultant for the Farley Group.
As a seasoned on-the-record communicator, public relations and public affairs professional, he has appeared on NBC, CNBC, BBC, NPR and dozens of broadcast media outlets. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, AP, Reuters, Financial Times, Bloomberg and others.
Hailing from central Pennsylvania, he holds a degree from Syracuse University. He, his wife and their two daughters live in the Washington, DC suburbs.
