Rural Intercity Bus Transportation Conference (RIBTC)
Convened by the Transportation Research Board, the 24th National Conference on Rural Public and Intercity Bus Transportation will be held on October 25-27, 2021 online. The conference offers a valuable experience for rural transit and human service transit providers, tribal transit managers, planners, state agency staff, intercity bus operators, consultants, researchers, and trainers.
The 2021 conference will include multiple routes to learning opportunities in planning, design, and research; policy, funding, and finance; special topics on rural mobility; rural and tribal transportation; and better mobility through technology.
In addition, FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez will present the “Connecting Rural Communities” Awards. Since 1985, FTA has recognized the great work in rural transit by presenting Administrator’s Awards for Outstanding Public Transportation Service in Rural Public Transportation during RIBTC. This year’s “Connecting Rural Communities” awards recognize rural transit providers that have improved the mobility of Americans in rural areas. Specifically, these systems served their communities by providing access to vital services during the COVID-19 pandemic, advanced equity for all, including individuals who have been historically underserved and adversely affected by persistent poverty or income inequality, and improved the safety of rural transit.
